Held in San Diego beginning February 21, 2012, the three-day seminar will begin with a survey of the tax controversy landscape, featuring sessions on developing your audit management strategy, managing your examination, negotiating with appeals and then closing your examination and beyond. Sheldon Kay, Deputy Chief, Appeals - IRS will be our luncheon speaker on the first day.
On the second day of the program, participants will build their own tax controversy curriculum from the following concurrent sessions:

These small sessions will facilitate interaction between our best-in-class faculty and attendees, maximizing the learning experience.
Day 3 will focus exclusively on managing foreign audits. TEI has teamed up with Baker & McKenzie to address issues and strategies associate with tax audits around the world. Experts from the following countries will share their knowledge and experience: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, Russia, South Korea, Spain, and Venezuela.
These experts will explore a wide range of topics, including spontaneous audits, extraordinary audit techniques, indirect tax audits, country-specific issues, and alternative dispute resolution.
Note: Registrants may sign up for the entire seminar, the first two days, or solely the final day on foreign audits.
Because a single registrant cannot cover all the breakout sessions, your company should strongly consider sending more than one person to our seminar.
CPE/CLE INFORMATION
The 2-day seminar provides approximately 14.5 credits on a 50-minute hour basis, 12.0 credits on a 60-minute hour basis. The optional 3rd-day of seminar provides approximately an additional 7.5 credits on a 50-minute hour basis and 6.0 credits on a 60-minute hour basis. There are no prerequisites nor is any preparation necessary. Seminar hours and technical topics are subject to change.
NEW CONFERENCE HANDOUT MATERIALS
Conference materials will be posted in a searchable form on a secure website as they are received from the speakers. Beginning two weeks before the conference, registrants will be to access the handouts via a secure link (requiring a password), so they can download or print them out. No paper copies will be provided in your registration materials onsite, and onsite printing facilities will be extremely limited. TEI encourages you to print documents of interest in advance. (Regrettably, wi-fi will not be available in the meeting rooms.) Materials will remain accessible by conference registrants for one month after the conference.
HOUSING INFORMATION
TEI has secured a block of rooms at The US Grant Hotel in San Diego, CA. Sleeping rooms are available at the discounted rate of $169+ tax per night. To make your reservations online click HERE. Please note: Our sleeping room block is limited and could sell out prior to January 30, so do not delay in making your reservations. UPDATE (1/'30/12): The US Grant is close to selling out on a few of our seminar nights. Should they not be able to accommodate your room needs at The US Grant the reservations agent will likely offer you a room at The Westin Gaslamp which is a sister-hotel of The US Grant. Should you not wish to stay there, we have included a list of additional hotels within a 3 block walk of The US Grant.
